Buy a cow, Save a life, Send a kid to school

Kendi’s Cows is an organization that raises money for livestock for people who need it. We have bought cows, chickens, and goats.

It’s really simple, people here donate money and people in other countries get an animal and are taught how to take care of it. We work with missionaries and other organizations who are in these countries already and know exactly what kind of cows, goats, and chickens can live there. They also know the people who are really in need and they can help these people take care of their animals if they need help. That keeps the animals from dying.

We currently buy Cows for children in India who have HIV and AIDS. These kids need the milk from the cow so that their medicine doesn’t make them sick. Milk is very expensive in India, so if you don’t have a cow you only get a tiny bit in your tea. If the kids can’t take their medicine they will become even more sick. It costs $900 dollars to buy a cow in India. This may seem expensive, but it is because they are considered holy there by many people who live there.

In the Philippines, we give chickens and goats to street children. Kids who live on the street only get to eat about every three days. They are very weak. For only $2 chicken can provide a child with one egg a day, and that is a lot more protein than they would get in an entire week. For only $35 a goat can provide an entire family or group of children with milk each day. If they have extra milk, they can sell it or trade it for other things that they need. These kids are also taught how to take care of their chickens and goats. You don’t want to eat the chicken, only the egg!

Entire chicken farms is what we buy in Haiti. For $200 a family can have an entire chicken farm. That includes 20 hens, the enclosure, and feed for a few weeks. The families are taught how to care for their chickens, and how to sell their extra eggs. They are also taught how to make sure and save enough money to buy more food for their chickens. A family with a chicken farm, can eat eggs, buy other food and things they need, and send their kids to school! You may not have $900 or $200 or even $35 to give, but every little bit helps. If you give just a little and you talk to your friends and they can give a little too, we can make a big difference for lots of kids and families!

Jesus said in Matthew 25:35-39

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

What To Look For

More than a vision…

Kendi’s Cows believes that empowering communities is the key to winning the fight against extreme poverty in much of the world. With cows comes chance for a better future, food on the table and hope in the field. But this isn’t just about cows; it's about people. These are people who need food, resources, and an income in order to do things like send their children to school and ensure that tomorrow will be easier than today; these people are why we do what we do.
